Well done on this year's Christmas production! It was so great to see the children given equal opportunity in the 'limelight' and to have the true message of Christmas shared in such a special way. The songs by the Nursery/Reception classes were particularly adorable - my son in Butterflies had been singing 'I've got the camel blues' for weeks! My hats off to all who worked so hard on this year's performance; staff, children & parents should be very proud.

Hi
Like Connor I was at the school 5 years ago.
I had a great time meeting friends and having loads of fun at hertford.
I think you can tell Hertford people from other schools because they behave like a adult.
Oh and like the scarecrow!

I lived at 66 Hollingbury Road from 1950 (when I was born) until 1964 ,before moving to OZ.
I attended Hertford from 1955 until 1959 then from 1959 until 1961 we were moved up to Davey Drive where we occupied four class rooms belonging to St Josephs.
Following the second world war there was a mini population explosion and as a consequence the class rooms were often over crowded, with over forty pupils per class, even the canteen was utilised as a classroom.I can also remember a shortage of teachers, and adjusting to different teachers every couple of weeks.
The verandah was open back then, and there was an on going "problem" with the toilets always being blocked!
Mr Hickman was the Head Master.
To answer your question about a person named Tozer on the back of your photographs.Ms Tozer was a teacher when I attended Hertford Road. A lot of the pupils played around at the "dip" shops, which was like a main street of a village . The shop owners use to place their merchandise out from their shop fronts across the foot path.It was a happy and safe place to be .I drove pass there last summer, and like alot of towns in the western world, not all the changes have been good. We are slowly destroying the character(what people connect with as they grow up) of our towns .
On a more positive note,(good changes!) congratulations on your website and to the school's curriculum.

Well done.

Paul Wheatley

.....................Thank you for your kind comments about the website. It is always so interesting hearing from ex-pupils.

I was born in 1964 and so might have been in the school photo posted by Andrew Knock. It's difficult to tell exactly, because of the quality of the photograph. I was in Mrs Milroy's class, if I remember correctly. I have some memories: including being made to stand on 'the veranda' as a punishment with my friend Simon Young after doing something I shouldn't; and winning a school art competition and having my painting on display. It made me very proud, even then! I live in Brussels now, and work for the European Commission, but it's great to see a site like this and relive some old times.

Your website is full of good stuff - thank you for all your help in getting Hertford Juniors' website off the ground. I like the idea of putting the school dinner menu up - I will try to add this to our Website.

Just been on again and looked at the world book day photos and the let's dance ones, very good. I was wondering if we were going to have the school dinner menu back again as this was helpful when it was there before. Just a thought!! ..................................................................................................

It's back on again - sorry waited for ages for Council to post an updated menu on their website - then forgot to keep checking. Only a few weeks left to run on this one - so I will try and update it again asap. Remind me if I forget!!!!!
Thank you for all your encouraging comments - it is good to know people are using the website and I'm not wasting my time!

Very good website! I've looked at a lot of sites for schools and this is one of the best because it has a lot of information rather than "under construction" pages!

This is our children's first year at Hertford and having just moved from Canada they have faced a lot of changes. But, we have been SO grateful for the amazing staff at the school who've made our children's experience an incredibly positive one. We've also greatly appreciated how the school encourages parental involvement as well as all the extra-curricular opportunities afforded the children. Well done Mrs. Thompson and all the staff!
